7 months old

Goodness...mommy is running behind.  Blake, you will be 8 months old tomorrow so I need to get caught up with what all you have been doing at 7 months old.  You are SO much fun and generally a happy baby.  This is what you have been up to...

• weight at 7 months ~ 18lbs, weight at 7 1/2 months ~ 18 lbs...holding steady
• you are starting to talk ~ first word was "dada" the day before Father's Day {this was at 6 1/2 months but was after the 6 month blog post and I think it need to be included in your accomplishments!}  you are also saying your B's "ba ba ba".  we are still working on "mama" :)
• you got your top two front teeth {July 6 & July 21}
• you can sit up by yourself if you are laying down.  it is the cutest thing when I go to get you in the mornings and you are sitting in your crib talking to yourself.
• you are SO close to crawling.  you get up on your hands & knees and rock back and forth.
• went on two trips this month ~ Jupiter, FL with mommy & daddy, Granny & Marcus, uncle Tyler, aunt Jenny, Brady & Claire and to Mobile, AL for cousin Haley's wedding.  you are a good car rider and the portable DVD player was a great purchase!
• you love the pool and your little pool float.  splashing in the water is so much fun!
• you are taking Prevacid & Zantac for your reflux

Jupiter ~ Happy 4th!

We spent the week of the 4th of July with Jake's family in Jupiter, FL.  We had a wonderful time {even with a 7 month old teething baby} and enjoyed spending time with the family. Blake did great in the car ~ 10 hour car ride was no problem for him. We could only be so lucky if all of our car rides could go as well as this one.

mommy got a new camera

like a need a reason to post more pictures of my sweet boy.  I am still trying to learn about all of the functions and special features of my new toy, but here are a few pictures so far.

6 months old

So if the next 6 months go by as fast as the first 6 months we are in trouble.  I have joked with Jake that I need to go ahead and start planning Blake's 1st birthday party because it will be here before we know it.

Blake, you are 6 months old and such a big boy.  We love watching you grow and change every day.  You did great at your 6 month checkup!  Here are your stats

• 17 lbs 9.5 oz (54 percentile)
• 26.5 inches long (51 percentile)
• even though you look like a chunk, you are a pretty average little boy.  

Other things you are doing...

• eating 3 meals a day.  So far you like everything except peas.  I even gave you prunes one day {that was a mistake} and you ate them right up.  Your dad says you are a natural born eater. Ha.  Here are the foods you are eating now: carrots, green beans, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, zucchini, apples, bananas, peaches, pears & mangoes.
• you roll around all over the place...sometimes I wonder how you got from one place to the other.  
• you are a happy baby boy and I love your little laugh.  it is the sweetest sound ever!
• you like to sleep on your side and snuggle with the little doggie blanket that Mrs. Joyce gave you.
• you have started going to daycare
• weight @ 6 1/2 months ~ 18lbs

I knew it this day would come at some point

my baby is growing up...Blake started daycare last week.  I know this will be good for him to socialize, be around other kids, and learn from his teachers, but I miss my little boy so much when is he away.  The first day was hard for mom, Blake did fine.  I was a mess just walking in the door, Blake on the other hand just started playing with the toys and some of the other {mobile} kids came over to check out the new kid.  He has 3 teachers {Ms. Judy, Ms. Shelia, & Ms. Stacy} so I know he gets plenty of attention throughout the day.  Here are some pictures from his first day

Blake still is not napping well, but his teachers say it usually takes a few weeks for the kids to adjust.  He was not the best napper at home so I was not expecting too much while at daycare.  Hopefully he will adjust soon and learn how to nap with all of the activity and noise of the other kids.  We will see how it goes...

While in Hilton Head we had a photo shoot with Blake in his sailor outfit that Anne Case had given us when he was born.  This outfit is adorable and came in the cutest box that looks like a book, complete with a "Tale of a Whale" story book.  Dad took well over a hundred pictures and here are just a few {well more than just a few}. I had a hard time narrowing it down because Blake is just so darn CUTE!
